Thunderbirds turned 50 in September 2015, and sadly many of the original crew members had already passed away. However, there remained three audio recordings made for commercial vinyl in the 60s which included the original voice artists, with scripts by the original scriptwriters, allowing a team of filmmakers to recreate the Supermarionation heroes (both puppets and machines) and produce new ‘old’ episodes of the series to celebrate its golden anniversary in style! Reuniting original crew members such as David Elliott and Mary Turner gave us the opportunity to recreate as closely as possible the experience of working on the original series in 1964, utilising practical filmmaking techniques pioneered half a century ago.
